HOUSE EPISODE'S MEDICAL MYSTERY: PATIENT OF THE WEEK (POTW)

Location of incident: Bridge game
Name / occupation / age / sex of POTW: Henry/Retired/65/Male
POTW symptom(s):
  • Seizure
  • Choking
  • Coughing up Blood
Team mis-diagnoses:
  • Testicular Cancer
  • Brain Abscess
  • STD
House team's rule violation(s) / ethical breaches:
  • House goes against the board and gains a non-viable heart but the woman who died had some sort of medical problem which needs to be solved before they can perform the heart transplant.
  • House manages to get acceptance from the woman's husband to take the heart and keep her on a ventilator until they can cure whatever she has.
House's "Aha!" moment:
POTW final diagnosis: The actual patient needs a heart transplant but the heart was 'contaminated' with a virus. The team eventually figure it out to be Gonorrhea.
Other / clinic patient(s): House treats a man who explains he's in love with a cow and needs something to stophim getting sexually aroused. House deduces that Tony still eats burgers so it couldn't be a cow he's in love with. Tony reveals it to be his mother and needs tranquilizers until he can move away. House medicates him.
