HOUSE EPISODE'S MEDICAL MYSTERY: PATIENT OF THE WEEK (POTW)

Location of incident: A local diner
Name / occupation / age / sex of POTW:
  • Tracy/Unknown/Unknown/Female
  • Jeremy/Unknown/Unknown/Male
POTW symptom(s): Tracy is the initial patient, who had her throat close up, but her husband Jeremy falls sick as well.

  • Tracy: Throat closes up, abdominal pain, hallucination, dissociative coma
  • Jeremy: Chest and stomach pain, intestines "rot."
Team mis-diagnoses: Salmonella from tainted Marijuana, exercise-based anaphylaxis, an STD, Porphyria
House team's rule violation(s) / ethical breaches: In an attempt to force Jeremy to allow a brain biopsy on Tracy, who is in a coma, House gives him naloxone, which cancels the effect of the pain killers he is on. This only strengthens his resolve, however.
House's "Aha!" moment: House realizes that maybe Jeremy's father was not racist, but had some other reason for not wanting the two to be together. Also, House realizes they have the same green eyes.
POTW final diagnosis: Hereditary angioedema; both have it, because Tracy and Jeremy are half-siblings
Other / clinic patient(s): Detective Michael Tritter

      House Quotes
      • Tritter: You're rude.
House: Wow... you're like a detective or something.

      • Tritter: So you treat everyone around like they're idiots. And you get away with it. Because of your cane.
House: Please stop. It's hard to write through the haze of bitter tears.

      • House: Infectious or environmental. All we have to do is check out parasites, viruses, bacteria, fungi, prions, toxins, radiation, chemicals, or it's Internet porn-related. I'll check the Internet, you cover the rest of the stuff.

      • "Sorry. I already met this month's quota of useless tests for stubborn idiots."
