House M.D. Episode Synopsis

House and the team are intrigued by Scott, a man whose left brain and right brain operate independently, leaving him with two distinct personalities and no control over some of his actions. As the two sides of Scott’s brain struggle for dominance, his warring personalities make it increasingly difficult for the team to figure out what is causing the unique problem. The team is forced to use some unusual methods to get him to cooperate with their necessary testing. Meanwhile, when House refuses to make an appearance in the clinic, Cuddy takes an unconventional approach to force House to make up the time with a particular patient.

Spoiler: in the end of the episode, House ends up in a mental hospital, having had all kinds of hallucinationsand loops. He is last seen walking through the institution door and watching Wilson go.

robteds A Simple explanation of the episode.... 0 May 21 2009, 6:33 AM EDT by robteds

Right this is pretty straight forward but as people seem to be confused, here we go. Go back to last episode when House went in to see Cutty for help, well he didn't he insulted her and she went home. House went home continued to take Vicodin and went to bed, woke up thinking he had slept with Cutty (whole thing imagined, she was never even there) and imagined seeing the lipstick on his face and picking up the stick itself. He carries around his pills for the rest of the episode believing them to be Cuttys lipstick (he is confused when he notices that despite having lipstick on his face, she leaves none on the coffee cup he steals), he annouces he has slept with Cutty to the hospital and the whole thing unravels. The Amber part of him remanefests itself along with Kutner to really make sure we know he's lost it. Cameron and Chase marry, House is institutionalised. Nice twist on a 'Beautiful Mind'.

Its going to be a tricky one for the writers to weasel there way out of. They have always been very careful to treat various conditions with seriousness. I think if they show full-on mental breakdown as curable because of some hidden condition they may lose a level of credibiity. Unless they are going to retitle it House MAD, I think that they will want him to continue practicing medicine. I am going to vote for some kind of very serious disease which take several episodes to treat to give some nod to taking it seriously, whilst sort the plot problem out.

Don't get me wrong House is one of the best things on TV (if you want a shock look up Hugh Laurie on youtube in Blackadder, which is also genius for other reasons), but the writers do like there get out of jail free cards. She's almost dead. her feet are going to fall off, she's had a few hours of treatment, she's fine. But hey, I love it!!!!
