Her paternal grandfather was the Irish journalist and novelist Claude Cockburn (aka.James Helvick). She has a sister, Chloe Cockburn, writer and designer.

Olivia Wilde's bio: Olivia Wilde was born Olivia Cockburn. Although she grew up in Washington D.C., she spent her summers in Ireland and studied in the renowned Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin. Her parents are journalists Andrew and Leslie Cockburn and she is the granddaughter of writer James Helvick.

Olivia Wilde attended Phillips Andvor and was nearly kicked out seven times. After graduating, she moved to Los Angeles. She got an internship job as a casting director for the movie "The Girl Next Door." She had a small role in this movie. She also appeared in "Alpha Dog, Skins, and The Black Donnellys." Probably her best known performance is playing Alex Kelly, opposite Mischa Barton's character, Marissa, in "The O.C." Her character Alex had a bisexual relationship with Marisa. Her next big break came when she was cast as an intern in House.

Olivia met and married her husband, Tao Ruspoli when she was 18 years old. Her husband Tao, is a documentary filmmaker, photographer, and flamenco guitar player. They currently reside in Los Angeles, California.
