Where's the cane???

If I'm not mistaken this DVD box cover is the first and only one not to have House with his cane. Whats up with that?

Good observation, although I don't think it means much of anything. They already tried to cure the pain in his leg at the beginning of season 3 and it didn't take. The marketing department probably didn't consider the cane as important a prop as we do. With the mystery involving what type of cane he'll sport when season 5 starts, maybe they didn't want to give anything away. =)

I didn't even know there was a mystery around what cane he will sport during the new season. To the best of my knowledge the cane is a major part of who House is, its a visual reminder of his pain both physically and mentally. I've noticed that the writers during the past season have really taken alot of emphasis off House's drug addiction and how he uses his cane. This box cover shows him with his fists on the desk, which I take to being kind of a symbolism for judgement... i.e. "the game" he played when finding his new fellows... haha I'm being so analytical!

No, I've also noticed he doesn't pop pills as often as he used to and he'll skip around more than before rather use his cane. Considering they did 111: Detox and had the whole Tritter think in season 3, you'd think that vicodin would still very much define House, as would his limp and his cane. I wish they had someone running continuity on the show because as you proved by your observation these subtle and (let's face it) unnecessary changes can annoy some long-time fans of the show on an anal level. =O

They do and it worries me a little. Do they represent a chink in the armor. sort of speak? Because if fans like you and I can notice that, we'll certainly catch something more obvious and more serious, à la Chekov in Star Trek II.Thank you for the nice comment about the icon. Then you should visit the Hermitage museum in St. Petersburg, Russia. You could spend a week in there they have so much art from so many artists and so many periods and styles. If you can't find something you like in there, you don't like art, period.And not to steer away too far off the thread topic, have you noticed how little time House spends in the clinic in season 4? The clinic patients served a purpose in my opinion. Not having them bugs me a little. Do you find this valuable? |
